IDE-GO, a sister organization to GO and GO Canada, proclaims in its Brazilian abbreviation the same command given by Jesus: “Go [ide in Portuguese] and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
From a simple beginning, the institute is growing quickly.
Work in Brazil
In Brazil, we are working in one of the poorest states, Piaui. Of its 224 municipalities, 94 have no Adventist presence. Of its 3.2 million inhabitants, only 16,000 are Seventh-day Adventists. Evangelists are reaching out and churches are being built, but the challenge is great.
Another point of our interest is directed to reaching the deaf and dumb. We subsidize deaf workers so they can help reach the 600,000 deaf people who live in the great city of S. Paulo.
Under the patronage of IDE-GO, Douglas Domingos da Silva will be finishing his studies in theology at the end of 2014, and will be the first Adventist deaf pastor in Brazil.
Work in Africa
Our main focus, however, is foreign missions. With several workers in Africa, the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, rather neglected in the past, are being evangelized quickly. Mozambique is also getting the benefit of evangelists sponsored by IDE-GO. Other countries are opening doors to receive workers in new mission fields, and thus saving souls for the kingdom of God.
